I finally had my filling sorted out last week. For some reason he said he didn't want to do any fillings on my teeth that have the bands on, even though I'm sure I need them. He said he didn't want to put fillings on them because they're going to be moving, but I don't really know why that matters! But oh well, I suppose he's the expert! Anyway, had the filling that my orthodontist wanted sorted out done, so that's the main thing. So hopefully I might get my braces on at my next hospital appointment on 13th April! I really hope so! I just want things to get moving!
Hey Sarah I just wanted to say thank you for your posts, I'm stumbled here as I'm having my wisdom teeth out (very nervous) and wondered about tests/recovery etc. Well you were spot on about the mrsa...how weird was that! Anyway I had braces a few years ago too, it felt like forever waiting. They're a real pain in the bum but once your teeth start moving it's so worth it :) Good luck with everything x
ReplyDeleteHi Emily, when are you having your wisdom teeth out? I was a bit nervous too but it really wasn't too bad. It was the first operation I'd ever had so that probably made me a bit more nervous about it! Feel free to ask any questions, I'd be happy to answer them :) x
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah thanks for replying :) My op date is 20th May eek! They're removing my lower teeth along with some jaw bone as one grew back & up. I am just so scared about nerve damage, did you wake up with any numbness/tingling? Also how long did it take for the holes to fill in, if you know what I mean?! Gross! X
ReplyDeleteI didn't have any kind of numbness and tingling. I remember the nurse very briefly warned me of the possibility, but she said it was very unlikely, and seeing as I'm having jaw surgery and there's a lot more risk of nerve damage with that I don't think she thought it was a big deal! I don't know whether you'll have any more risk of numbness because of the jaw bone thing, maybe that's something you should ask about.
ReplyDeleteIt was just kind of achey for a few days, then it got better, and then randomly about a week after I had one day where I just had this horrible sharp pain in my jaw, but it only lasted a few hours.
I think it took maybe a few weeks for the 'holes to fill in'! Bit by bit you feel the dissolvable stitches coming out, which isn't nice! I remember looking in my mouth and just seeing a hole down there and wondering if it was normal, but it's all closed up now! Although on one side I still have a little bit of a dent!
I found out yesterday I've got to have my top wisdom teeth out too! :( Apparently it's not as much of a big deal as the bottom ones though, so hopefully it shouldn't be too bad. Are you having jaw surgery or did you just happen to find my blog because you were researching wisdom teeth? Good luck with your op! I'm sure you'll be fine! Let me know if you've got any more questions x
